KABUL (Pajhwok): The Kabul security plan focuses on security checkpoints in the central capital city to help resolve traffic jams and limit security posts, The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Wednesday.

MoI spokesman Najib Danish told reporters here that the Kabul security plan had been approved by the president and it was now under implementation.

“Most of our focus is on corners of the city and major checkpoints that include some districts and provinces of Kabul as well, he said.

“Afghan National Army (ANA) forces would be deployed in the city checkpoints and detective forces inside the city,” he added.

Implementation of the security plan would help resolve traffic problems in Kabul city and decrease the number of small checkpoints.

About new officials’ appointment for all Kabul districts, Danish said: “This change will result in major improvements. The new district officials are given a three-month deadline to show their best performance or they would be replaced.”

Danish asked drivers of all right hand drive vehicles that lacked number plates to register their cars and obtain temporarily legal documents for their movements.

If none-customs-paid (NCP) vehicles were not registered within a month, they would be compounded and then no one would have the right to complain, he Danish said.

The new security plan for Kabul was developed following deadly attacks that left hundreds of people dead and maimed.
