KABUL Dr. Omar Zakhilwal has urged President Ashraf Ghani to replace him, an authoritative source revealed on Monday.

Zakhilwal had informed the president he would continue to hold the ambassadorial assignment until his successor was appointment, the source confided to Pajhwok Afghan News.

Zakhilwal, who has completed his two-year diplomatic assignment in Islamabad, wants to leave his job, according to a senior government official, who did not want to be named.

Also the president’s special representative to the neighbouring country, Zakhilwal has not yet asked for another job. He may run for next year’s presidential election and wants to launch a campaign in the near future.
