TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Police have killed two people, including a bride, and wounded a third in northeastern Takhar province, an official alleged on Monday.
Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of the provincial capital, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the 3rd police district when police opened fire on a rickshaw.
Two members of a family were killed and a third wounded in the shooting, Mohammad said, adding the bride had celebrated her wedding ceremony two days back. She became sick on third day and wanted to visit hospital.
On the other hand, police spokesman Maj. Khalil Asir said the security personnel opened fire at the three-wheeler after the driver refused ignored signals to stop. He added a death body was found in the same area on Sunday.
Five police officers have been arrested so far in connection with the shooting, he concluded. Several civilians were killed in police firing in western Farah province last week.
