PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): An advisor to the Senate’s second deputy chairman has survived an armed attacked that left two of his bodyguards dead in central Logar province, an official said on Tuesday.
Saleem Saleh, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban militants attacked Mohammad Wali Sahibzada in the Wagha Jan locality of Mohammad Agha district late on Monday night.
He said the advisor survived the armed attacked but two of his bodyguards were killed. The insurgents took away the advisor’s vehicle and two weapons. No one has been arrested so far in connection with the assault.
A shopkeeper in the area, who wished to go unnamed, claimed seeing two death bodies at the scene after gunfire. Insecurity had lately intensified in the neighbourhood, he said.
On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the fighters had attacked security forces in the area and seized weapons and a vehicle from them.
