TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Armed highway robbers on Friday looted 150 passengers of cash and valuables in northern Takhar province, officials said.

Governor’s spokesman, Sunatullah Timori, told Pajhwok Afghan News the robbers looted passengers of four 303 model busses heading from Takhar province to Kabul this morning.

He said the robbers stopped the buses in Ozun Passage of Rustaq district and then snatched all money and other valuable things of passengers.

Police launched an investigation into the incident and efforts are underway to arrest the robbers, he added.

Meanwhile, a resident of Rustaq district, who wished to go unnamed, said that robbers stopped four passenger buses around 4:30am this morning and then looted all the passengers.

He said that his brother who was traveling in one of the buses was also looted and robbers took his 10,000 Afghanis, mobile telephone and other valuable things.

More than 150 passengers were traveling in the four buses, he said.
