KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Twenty-five Taliban have been killed and 14 others wounded as a result of an airstrike by international troops on the Kandahar-Uruzgan highway in the southern province of Kandahar, an official said on Monday.
Police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the raid occurred in the Sarkhbid locality of the Shawalikot district late on Sunday night after the rebels attacked a security check-post.
The Taliban had kidnapped some civilians two week back in the same area, he concluded. The insurgents, however, have not yet commented on the air raid and casualties.
