Afghanistan signs helicopter deal with Belarus

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has inked a contract with the Republic of Belarus for the purchase of four M-30 helicopters with financial support from India.

The agreement was signed between the representatives of Afghanistan and Belarus in New Delhi, Maj. Gen. Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for MoD, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Under the contract, Belarus would deliver Afghanistan four choppers. He hoped the embryonic Afghan Air Forces would be strengthened with the delivery of the choppers.

Afghanistan currently has about 150 planes, 35 helicopters. The US has provided most of the jets and helicopters to AAF, which has received four copters from India two years ago.
