KABUL or lower house members on Monday seriously criticized a celebratory firing inside the Parliament compound after the house elected its first deputy speaker.
On Sunday, lawmakers Hamayon Hamayon and Mohammad Nazir Ahmadzai ran for the first deputy speaker slot. When Hamayon won the election, some people fired into the air in celebration inside the Parliament premises.
Hamayon, speaking at today’s lower house session, accused Ahmadzai’s bodyguards of the firing while Ahmadzai blamed his bodyguards.
