JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Fourteen Daesh, or so-called Islamic State (IS), militants including 12 foreigners have been killed in a drone strike in the Haska Mena district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.
Sherin Agha Faqiri, spokesman for the 201st Selab Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News foreign forces targeted the Daesh rebels in Awghaz and Mehtar Khan areas on Friday.
At least 14 insurgents, including foreign militants, were killedin the raid, he added, But their identities could not be ascertained immediately.
Earlier, the Afghan National Army (ANA) claimed killing a number of Daesh fighters in Nangarhar province. The group has not yet commented on the military claim.
According to other news, a local Taliban commander named Qari Mansoor, who led a 25-mmeber group, was among those killed in the Shahabuddin area of northern Baghlan province.
Police spokesman Zabihullah Shuja said the militant commander was killed by his associates in the area under Taliban control. The Taliban have held four militants in connection with his death.
