Turkish PM Binali Yıldırım to visit Afghanistan soon

KABUL in near future, the country’s envoy in Kabul said on Sunday during a meeting with Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said Turkish ambassador to Afghanistan Oğuzhan Ertuğrul called on Rabbani on Sunday.

Ertuğrul called Afghanistan “good friend of Turkey” and said his country’s Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım would visit Kabul soon.

About training of the sixth batch of Afghan police officers in Turkey, the envoy said the Turkish government was committed to continuing its training of Afghan police forces.

The Turkish diplomat also said a consulate of his country would be opened soon in western Herat province.

Rabbani thanked Turkey for its support towards Afghanistan in different areas, particularly police training and said Turkish continued help was important for Afghanistan.

The statement said both the sides discussed politics, security, economic, the Heart of Asia Istanbul Process, bilateral relations and the role of Organization of Islamic Cooperation during the meeting.
