AIBAK (Pajhwok): Five individuals have been killed in a traffic accident in Aibak, the capital of northern Samangan province, an official said on Thursday.
Abdul Razzaq, traffic director, told Pajhwok Afghan News the accident happened in Shahid Andkhoi on the Samangan-Baghlan highway on Wednesday night.
He said a Corolla car collided with a tanker, resulting in the killing of three men and two women travelling in the car. The mishap was linked to careless driving.
Dr. Abdul Qayyum, an official at the Emergency-run hospital here, confirmed receiving five dead bodies from the accident site. The corpses have been handed over to relatives.
Governor Abdul Latif Ibrahimi has tasked traffic authorities to establish checkpoints on the highway to discourage rash driving and reduce accidents.
