SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The Daesh rebels head for northern Jawzjan province and another insurgent have been killed in a US force airstrike, an official said on Saturday.
Police Chief Brig. Gen. Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani told Pajhwok Afghan News Daesh Commander for Jawzjan Qari Hekmat, his colleague Qari Ahmad and two foreign rebels had been targeted by US aircrafts on Friday evening.
He said Qari Hekmat was initially buried in Qurogh village while later he was pulled out and buried in Bebi Maryam village of Darz Ab district on Saturday morning.
After the killing of Qari Hekmat, security forces cleared 12 square kilometers area around the district and recaptured two villages of Qurogh and Qashlaq.
Meanwhile some residents of locality claimed Qari Hekmat was killed by the Taliban’s Ghazanfar wing.
Samiullah, the resident of Darz Ab district claimed the Taliban and Daesh clashed with one another in the district several times in the past.
He said Taliban led by Ghazanfar have killed Qari Hekmat and his body guard in Qorugh district on Friday morning.
But Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Qari Hekmatullah was killed by foreign forces airstrike not by the order the Taliban. He made it clear the Taliban had nothing to do with the killing of Hekmat.
Qari Hekmat earlier served with the Taliban but from the past three years he joined Daesh.
