KABUL (Pajhwok): Atta Mohammad Noor, former governor of northern Balkh province on Saturday during a telephone contact with National Security Advisor said he was firmly supporting the national unity government and committed for its progress.
National Security Council (NSC) spokesman, Qadir Shah, told Pajhwok Afghan News that National Security Advisor (NSA) Mohammad Hanif Atmar talked with Atta Mohammad Noor in a telephone contact on Friday evening.
Noor’s services and achievements are appreciable and his decisions were always reasonable in critical conditions of the country, Atmar was quoted as saying.
“I respect Noor as a political leader in this country, his political role is important in the country’s development and the government’s strength,” Atmar said.
Atta Mohammad Noor thanked Atmar for the telephone contact and said he always worked for the interests of Afghanistan and its people.
He said that he would strongly support the government and committed for its empowerment and improvement.
After months of differences with the government, Noor agreed to step down as Balkh governor and he was replaced by a new governor, Ishaq Rahguzar.
