Suspected kidnappers of Afghan boys being grilled

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Five suspected kidnappers of two Afghan boys have been handed over to police on two-day physical remand in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Haripur police identified the suspected kidnappers as Habibur Rehman, Alim Nabi, Ghazi Khan, Yasir Khan and a woman named Fiza Bibi.

The arrest came days after two minor Afghan boys — sons of an Afghan butcher — were kidnapped from the Baldhair area of Haripur district last week, a police official said.

The boys went missing when his wife handed them to one of the accused, who motivated the family to enroll the children in local a private school.

Later on, the accused demanded Rs500,000 in ransom for release of the minors. Police arrested the accused and recovered the boyson Thursday.

The accused were produced before the court of the area magistrate, who handed them over to police for further investigation.
