HERAT (Pajhwok): In yet another brazen attack, the Taliban rebels killed 10 policemen in the Shindand district of western Herat province last night, the governor’s spokesman said on Friday.
Another four police were wounded in the attack on Larzang security post, said Jilani Farhad, who added at least 15 attackers had also been eliminated in the clash. He said the Taliban stormed the security post from all directions.
The Taliban confirmed the attack and said the fighters escaped unharmed.
Shindand district is 120km south of Herat City, the provincial capital.
The attack in Shindand comes a day after the Taliban killed 13 security men and captured Khwaja Omari district of Ghazni province.
The insurgents shot district governor Shams, security manager and a number of forces and also seized military equipment.
