MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Former governor of northern Balkh province Atta Mohammad Noor on Saturday asked the people to register as voters ahead of parliamentary elections.
He issued the call at a gathering attended by public representatives, tribal elders, religious scholars, women and youth in the provincial capital.
He urged the masses to go to thong registration centres and get documented as voters. He called people’s active participation in the elections as significant.
The former governor remarked: “We must determine our future today. But doing so is impossible without registration as voters.” He explained the old voter cards had been invalidated by the Independent Election Commission.
The long-delayed parliamentary and district council election will take place on October 20.
