JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Four members of a family were killed and a fifth wounded when the roof of their house collapsed in Chaparhar district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said Sunday.
Attaullah Khoghani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Longpur locality late on Saturday night following heavy rains.
He said Sayed Rahman, his son and two daughters were killed and his wife was wounded in the roof collapse.
Separately in the same district, gunmen killed a religious scholar in Hadiakhelo area last night, said Khogyani, who identified the slain scholar as Mualvi Karim.
Mualvi Karim was teacher in Yahyakhelo High School and prayer leader of a mosque.
There was no claim of responsibility for the targeted killing.
