JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Nineteen Taliban, including five commanders and seven foreigners, have been killed during security forces raids in the Momandara district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.
Local residents claimed two civilians were killed and some arrested by personnel of National Directorate of Security (NDS).
Governor Spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News Special Forces of the NDS stormed the Taliban’s different training centres in the Momandara.
He added 19 Taliban, including seven Pakistanis militants, were killed during the raids.
Notorious Taliban Commanders Ershad known as Haji, Shamali, Qari Jannat known as Qari Umar, Saqib and Afridi were among the dead, said Khogyani.
He added five machine guns, eight metres explosive wire, eight magazines of machine guns and large amount of explosives recovered by security forces.
