SAR-I-PUL CITY (Pajhwok): One police official has been killed and three others, including a woman, wounded in a Taliban ambush in northern Sar-i-Pul province.

Deputy police chief Sayed Naqibullah told Pajhwok Afghan News on Tuesday Sergeant Irgash was killed in while returning from the inspection of some police check-posts in Qush Tepa area.

According to the official, two other policemen and a woman were also injured in gunfire from the militants. The attack took place late on Monday.

A resident of the area, who declined to be named, confirmed the casualties and said that one rebel was also injured in the firefight. A police armoured vehicle was destroyed as well.
