<p>MAIMANA (Pajhwok): <a href="/en/taliban" class="glossify-link">Taliban</a> insurgents have overrun a strategic area of the Khwaja Sabzposh district of northwestern Faryab province, local official said on Sunday.</p>
<p>A credible source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban captured the Qara-i-Sheikhi area of the district at around 10pm on Saturday night.</p>
<p>The insurgents claimed killing six Afghan soldiers, catching another four alive, seizing four tanks, a mortar, a machine gun and four rifles from the security personnel based in the locality.</p>
<p>According to local officials, the militants also suffered heavy casualties during the overnight firefight, but they did not give exact figures.</p>
