SHARANA CITY (Pajhwok): A tribal elder has been killed and seven other people were injured in a bomb blast on Warmami district of southern Paktika province, an official said Monday.
Shah Mohmood, provincial police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News, a tribal elder named Abdul Hai was killed in a blast late on Sunday. Seven other civilians were injured.
However, Syed Noor, a resident of the district said, the bomb was rigged in a public calling office (PCO). The blast took place when the tribal elder was on a call with someone in the PCO.
The tribal leader had no personal enmity with anyone and the incident worried local people, he said.
Warmami district is located west of Sharan, the provincial capital of Paktika. The district’s roads have been closed by the Taliban since the past 15 years.
No groups so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
