KABUL Umar Zakhelwal on Tuesday met Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed issues of bilateral nature, the envoy wrote on his social media account.
Zakhelwal and Bajawa also discussed steps on the implementation of recently concluded Afghanistan Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS).
“This afternoon met Pakistan Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa for a detailed discussion on some key current issues of bilateral nature including next steps on the implementation of recently concluded Afghanistan Pakistan Action Plan for Peace & Solidarity (APAPPS),” Zakehlwal twitted.
The Afghanistan Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS), envisaging the creation of six working groups, has become operational.
Foreign ministries in Kabul and Islamabad, in a joint statement, hoped the plan’s effective implementation would contribute to promoting peace in the region.
“Both sides agreed full implementation of APAPPS would contribute towards the common objectives of eliminating terrorism and achieving stability, prosperity and development of the people of the two countries.”
The joint statement came after Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua and Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai met in Islamabad. It was the fourth meeting of APAPPS.
