LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Fifteen people have been released from a Taliban-run jail in the Marja district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Tuesday.
Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Afghan Special Forces raided the Taliban prison late on Monday night.
About 15 people, including two policemen, were released as a result of the operation, he said, adding six suspects were arrested by the security personnel.
Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi also confirmed the development and said 16 individuals had been released in the operation by foreign force. He accused the inmates of committing various crimes.
