PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): More than 2,000 widows and needy women received poultry and other equipment in assistance in central Logar province on Thursday, an official said.
Agricultural and livestock director Din Mohammad Momand told Pajhwok Afghan New they distributed poultry and some other related equipment to 2,222 needy women on Thursday.
He said each woman was given 15 poultry eggs, 75 kilograms of check poultry seeds and poultry vaccine.
According to his information, the women hailed from Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, Baraki Barak and Khwakhi districts, with the project costing 31 million afghanis.
Sakina, a resident of the provincial capital, expressed her happiness over receiving the assistance from the agriculture and livestock department.
She added her husband had died and with the aid she could meet the needs of her five children.
Rana, another resident of Mohammad Afgha district, termed the assistance with needy women as important and wished more such help.
Provincial agricultural and livestock officials assured such programs would continue in future as well.
