Barmak, Gen. Nicholson discuss election security

KABUL have discussed security for elections and late payment of police salaries.

Barmak and Gen. John Nicholson met at the ministry on Sunday and conferred on the payment of salaries to members of the police force and other issues.

In a statement from the ministry, Barmak called for the immediate clearance of police salaries. The MoI was striving to pay the salaries at the earliest possible, especially to those combating the enemies, he added.

Gen. Nicholson also stressed the early payment of salaries to the police personnel. He also discussed election security with the interior minister.

The two sides agreed donors should support the MoI in coordination with the Resolute Support (RS) mission to set up a system to prevent delay in payment of salaries.
