Kabul: Nearly 1,000 obtain forms to contest polls

The process of candidate registration kicked off on Saturday.

Awal Rahman Rodwal, IEC head for Kabul, said 1,000 people had obtained the candidate registration forms as of 1pm Sunday, terming it a highest number beyond IEC expectation.

He said over 650 people registered as candidates on Saturday while some 300 registered today.

“Some individuals who got their forms yesterday have completed their required documents today and the commission is now checking their documents.”

He said the process of candidate registration would continue till June 12.
