JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Private doctors in eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday announced a 50 percent cut in their fees for two days to celebrate the government -Taliban ceasefire.

The announcement was made after a meeting of owners of private clinics and checkup centres at the Public Health Department here.

Health Department spokesman Inamullah Miakhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the decision to reduce fees by a half was taken in respect to the holy month of Ramazan and the bilateral ceasefire announcement.

Public Health Director Najibullah Kamawal asked doctors to provide best health services to people during Eid days and fully discharge their duty.

Miakhel said all private hospital owners had agreed to respect the decision taken at the meeting and would give more attention to best services during Eid.

He added in honor of the two-way ceasefire, private doctors would take half fee from ailing persons on 27th and 28th of Ramazan.

Dr. Mohammad Liaqat Adil, head of All Afghanistan Federation of Trade Union (AAFTU), welcomed the doctors’ decision as appreciable.

President Ashraf Ghani announced ceasefire with the Taliban from 27th of Ramazan till fifth day of Eid-ul-Fitr. The Taliban also reciprocated and announced a three day ceasefire starting from day one of Eid.
