JALALALBAD (Pajhwok): At least 34 Taliban have been killed during an operation in the Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official claimed on Monday.
Afghan Special Forces conducted the operation in the Azra area of the district late on Sunday night, Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Thirty-four insurgents were killed and several weapons and ammunition destroyed during the offensive, he said, adding the security forces and civilians suffered no casualties.
According to Khogyani, the raid was conducted when the fighters were meeting to plan attack. There has been no word yet from the Taliban.
