AIBAK (Pajhwok): Revenue from a coalmine in northern Samangan province has increased by 300 million afghanis in the first six months of the current year, compared to the corresponding period last year, an official said on Tuesday.
Mohammad Siddique Azizi, the governor’s spokesman, said due to unemployment, more youth were coming to work in mine in Dara-i-Sauf Bala district. As such, more coal was extracted and hence the revenue hike.
As many as 10,000 individuals from different provinces of the country are working in the Samangan mine. Aziz said there were three other coal mines in the district.
Incomes from Garmak Gharbi, Sharq and Rashk mines were not included the 1.4 million afghanis because they were being extracted by the ministry and the private sector.
