TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Rahimullah, a brother of former Uruzgan police chief Matiullah Khan, has been arrested and disarmed by security forces as part of a crackdown on illegal gunmen.
Maj. Gen. Imam Nazar Bahbood, 205thAtal Corps commander, has ordered strict action against unauthorised armed men and powerful individuals.
Addressing tribal elders here, Bahbood promised no one would be allowed in future to terrorise people or commit illegal activities.
He said some powerful individual possessed 410 weapons -- property of the police force -- and threatened the masses with these arms.
In line with President Ashraf Ghani’s the direction, the security forces had arrested Rahimullah, who recently clashed with intelligence personnel in Tirinkot, the provincial capital.
A Humvee vehicle, police vehicle, a machine gun, six weapons and ammunition have been recovered from Rahimullah, a brother of former police chief Matiullah Khan.
Tribal elder Abdul Bari complained of insecurity in Tirninkot and said people were being robbed in broad daylight in Uruzgan. He asked the security forces to take action against them.
