Prayer leader, ANA official gunned down in Farah

FARAH CITY/ CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a prayer leader and an Afghan National Army (ANA) official hour apart in western Farah province, an official said Sunday.

Nasir Mehri, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the imam, Abdul Hameed, was gunned down in the 5th police district of Farah City on Saturday.

He said Hameed served as prayer leaders at the provincial police headquarters.

Elsewhere, gunmen shot dead an ANA official Abdul Ali in the 3rd police district of Farah City in front of his house.

The Taliban insurgents have claimed responsibility for Abdul Ali’s assassination.

Separately, Naveedullah, 22, allegedly committed suicide in Jabal Saraj district of central Parwan province.

Abdul Shakur Qudosi, the district administrative chief, said Naveedullah hanged himself in his house. Police were investigating the incident, he added.
