Zazai Maidan residents clash with Pakistani forces

<p>KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Local residents on Sunday clashed with Pakistani militia forces in a border village in Zazai Maidan district of southeastern Khost province, with both the sides suffering casualties, officials said.</p>

<p>Abdul Basir Bina, Khost police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash broke out after a number of armed men attacked security posts in Mandati border area early in the morning.</p>

<p>He said the Afghan residents jumped into the battlefield in support of the Afghan security forces and both the sides used small and heavy weapons.</p>

<p>Governor’s spokesman, <a href="/en/talib" class="glossify-link">Talib</a> Mangal, said three local people and seven attackers had been killed and some others wounded in the incident.</p>

<p>He said the attack was allegedly carried out by Pakistani militias from across the <a href="/en/durand-line" class="glossify-link">Durand Line</a>. But the incident needed investigation.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Janmir Zazai, a provincial council member and resident of Zazai Maidan district, said the attackers were in ordinary clothes but local residents believed they were Pakistani militias.</p>

<p>No militant group or <a href="/en/pakistan" class="glossify-link">Pakistan</a> forces have so far commented on the incident.</p>
