KABUL (Pajhwok): Dr. Mohammad Humayun Qayumi, chief advisor on infrastructure and technology to President Ashraf Ghani, has been appointed as minister of finance, the Presidential Palace announced on Tuesday.
Former minister Eklil Ahmad Hakimi resigned his office as a result of personnel engagement. He was appointed as special envoy and advisor to the president last month.
Dr. Qayumi has now been named as new minister of finance, according to a statement from the president’s office. Qayumi would be introduced soon to the Wolesi Jirga for a trust vote.
