‘Govt to continue crackdown on powerful figures’

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Presidential Palace said on Saturday that the crackdown on powerful individuals would continue as per people’s complaints.

Presidential spokesman Mohammad Haroon Chakhansori told media-persons in Kabul  that a number of powerful individuals and illegal commanders had been arrested in Faryab, Farah and Uruzgan provinces following complaints.

The detainees were currently under interrogation and would be referred to the attorneys for further investigation, he said.

He said the government would continue to act against individuals people had complaints against. He asked people to register their complaints with the Afghanistan’s government.

The spokesman rejected the claim that the government had prepared a list of powerful figures to arrest them.
