HEART CITY (Pajhwok): The Ulema Council for western zone of the country have grilled authorities over disconnection of electricity supply to western Herat province and asked the government to take immediate step for the resumption of electricity supply.

Herat province is supplied with electricity imported from neighbor Iran, but the country recently cut it down.

Ulema Council Head Maulvi Khudadad, termed the Iran action as unfair and asked the government not to remain silent over the electricity suspension issue.

Civil Society Breshna Shirkat (DABS) claimed they had implemented all the pledges made from the Iranian side but alleged the weak diplomacy of the Afghan foreign ministry which has not yet acted over the issue.

Governor Spokesman Jilani Farhad said he hoped the people of Herat would get their legal rights and the government would resolve the electricity issue.

Earlier, some factory owners and business associations claimed they suffered 13 million afghanis in losses over disconnection of electricity supply to Herat.
