Protestors close Kabul-Kapisa highway for traffic

MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): A number of residents of central Kapisa province on Saturday closed the Kabul-Kapisa highway for traffic.

The demonstrators blocked the highway in Sayyad area after a provincial council member’s bodyguard shot injured some residents.

Khushal, one of the protestors, said the bodyguards of Mahfooz Safi opened fire on people in Haroki area late on Friday night. He said six individuals were injured.

“We have closed the highway as a result of this incident; it will stay shut until the perpetrators are arrested,” he said. Pajhwok tried to contact Safi but failed.

On the other hand, provincial police chief Mohammad Hakim Azim said a clash erupted between the PC member bodyguards and some local people. Two people were injured and police arrested the perpetrators.
