FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): The commander of Farah Airport in western Farah province was shot to death by unidentified armed men in the provincial capital on Thursday, officials said.
Mohibullah Mohib, police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place on Thursday afternoon.
He said Col. Agha Gul, the commander of Farah Airport, who was shopping in Farah city was killed by unknown armed men around 2pm today.
The commander had no weapon when targeted by attackers, he said, adding the assailants were managed to flee after the incident.
Police launched an investigation into the incident but no one has so far arrested, Mohib added.
Two days back, a police officer was killed in a similar incident in the capital of Farah province.
