LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Taliban and security officials on Wednesday claimed inflicting casualties on each other during clashes in southern Helmand province.
Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and one wounded as a result of a Taliban attack.
The assault on the ANA check-post occurred in the Yakhchal area of Greshk district late on Tuesday night, the gubernatorial spokesman said.
An airstrike hit the vehicle the attackers were traveling in and all the militants on board were killed, he added.
Police spokesman Abdul Salam Afghan said seven insurgents were killed in an operation in the Chah Injir and Shemlan areas of Nad Ali district.
He said the security forces had advanced seven kilometers on the district, where four rebels were wounded during the offensive. About six new checkpoints were established, he concluded.
