KABUL will play well against Sri Lank in their Asia Cup encounter, promises skipper Asghar Stanikzai.
The Afghans will take Sri Lanka in their opening encounter at the Asia Cup on September 17, followed by a clash with Bangladesh on September 20.
“We are not here just to play but to perform. Our players have got enough experience playing big international matches. They have performed well in leading cricket leagues so we are hopeful of doing well,” the 30-year-old said.
In an interview with Asia News International, Stanikzai acknowledged the Sri Lankans were an experienced side. Afghanistan had played some good matches against them, he added.
“We are confident that we can perform well against them,” insisted the Afghan captain, who believed the India-Pakistan match was going to be the best encounter of the tournament.
