IEC announces voter lists from 4 provinces

KABUL) on Sunday announced preliminary voter lists from Farah, Zabul, Sar-i-Pul and Panjshir provinces, rejecting thousands of applications over fraud or wrong information.

Addressing reporters in Kabul, IEC head Abdul Badae Sayyad said from the total 37,839 people applying for registration as the voter, 24,356 applications were rejected over repeated registration, providing wrong information, age and lack of date of birth.

He said the process of feeding voter’s information to the database system was underway and so far eight million voters had been inducted into the system.

The IEC chief said in Sar-i-Pul province 18,559 persons were removed out of 156,542, in Zabul 2,052 removed out of 68,009, in Farah 2,529 removed out of 68986, in Panshir 3,513 removed out of 78,302 persons.

He said the list of remaining 30 provinces would be released soon.

According to the IEC, so far over 9.5 million people have registered as voters nationwide.
