Afghan-West Indies matches in India ruled out

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan cricketers will not be available for any tour game against the West Indies in India, a media report said on Sunday.

Afghanistan’s U-19 team is preparing for the Asia Cup and ‘A’ team players are gearing up for the first-ever edition of the Afghanistan Premier League.

Afghan and Indian boards had agreed in May that every time visiting India would have to play a tour game against Afghanistan U-19 or A-teams.

But the West Indians, who are scheduled to arrive in India next week, would not be playing any practice fixtures with the Afghan side, the Sportstar reported.

Sources told Sportstar the Afghanistan U-19 side would be heading to Bangladesh for participation in the Asia Cup and the ‘A’ team players were gearing up for APL.

One unnamed source said: “There is a lot of cricket happening in the next few months, so there won’t be any time for the Afghanistan cricketers to play any tour games now.”
