PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Friday peace in Afghanistan was central to Pakistan’s long-term stability and progress.
He made the remarks in a meeting with US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
While hailing America’s emphasis on a political statement in Afghanistan, the foreign minister said that Pakistan always believed there was no military solution to the issue.
Khalilzad welcome the renewal of support from the minister, saying he looked forward to working with Pakistan for peace and stability in the war-torn country.
The envoy was accompanied by Ambassador Alice Wells, a senior official of the Bureau for South and Central Asian Affairs at the State Department.
