3 policemen killed, 6 wounded in Helmand suicide attack

<p>KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Three policemen have been killed and six others wounded in a Humvee bombing in the Maroof district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Wednesday.</p>

<p>Police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the car-borne suicide bomber hit a police check-post following a firefight in the district late on Tuesday night.</p>

<p>He said the vehicle was recognised by the police personnel before it reached the post but other militants launched gunfire at the policemen manning the checkpoint.</p>

<p>Durrani added the clash lasted several hours. Three policemen were killed and six others wounded, with the rebels suffering casualties, he said, without giving exact figures.</p>

<p>But a security source, wishing anonymity, claimed four border police members and three ANA soldiers were killed. Six border police personnel were wounded in bombing, he said.</p>

<p>Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, <a href="/en/taliban" class="glossify-link">Taliban</a>’s spokesman, said the Humvee attack had resulted in destruction of the Maroof police base and two military vehicles besides inflicting casualties on several security personnel.</p>
