60 landmines defused, 4 Taliban killed in Herat

HERAT (Pajhwok): Security forces neutralized 60 landmines and killed four Taliban militants who were expert in making and planting the explosive devices in the Shindand district of western Herat province, an official said Thursday.

The landmines were found in an arms depot belonging to the Taliban in Awkal village of the district, said the governor’s spokesman, Jilani Farhad.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the security forces confiscated and defused 60 landmines and killed four Taliban landmine experts during the operation which resulted in clearing several villages of the insurgents. three rebels were wounded, he added.
