KABUL (Pajhwok): Forty-eight armed insurgents have been killed and wounded during separate operations by security forces in a dozen provinces over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defense said on Friday.
The operations were carried out in Faryab, Heart, Ghazni, Uruzgan, Nimroz, Helmand, Nangarhar, Baghlan, Logar, Sar-i-Pul, Kandahar and Badakhshan provinces, a statement from the Defense Ministry said.
The security forces killed 31 militants, injured 16 and captured alive six more during the operations, the statement said.
It said 12 militants were killed in Andar district of southern Ghazni province and three in Maiwand district of Kandahar, the statement said.
It said five Daesh gunmen were killed in Ghaziabad district of eastern Kunar province and three Taliban fighters were slain in Kajaki district of Helmand and two rebels were killed and five injured the Shindand district of western Herat province.
The MoD statement said nothing about casualties to security forces during the round-the-clock operations and the Taliban have also so far said nothing about the MoD claims.
