6 ANA soldiers, as many Taliban killed in Helmand clashes

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least six Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and six insurgents have been killed as a result of separate attacks in southern Helmand province, officials said on Tuesday.

A security source, wishing anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants attacked a security check-post in the Greshk district late on Monday night.

He said four ANA soldiers were killed and the post captured by rebels during the overnight attack.

But Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, rejected the fall of the post and said the rebels attacked an ANA patrol in Syedan locality on Tuesday evening. Two soldiers were killed and a third wounded, he added.

On the other hand, 215th Maiwand Military Corps’ officials were unaware of the incidents.

A military official, Nasim Gul said six militants were killed during a clearing operation conducted by security forces in Marja district and several landmines were recovered and defused on Monday.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi claimed six ANA soldiers were killed and four weapons captured by rebels in Greshk district on Monday night.
