150 US soldiers ready for deployment to Afghanistan

KABUL from Fort Knox in Kentucky at the end of the current month, a TV channel reported on Wednesday.

The engineer soldiers will conduct route clearance operations in Afghanistan — a mission characterised as dangerous. The soldiers, however, said they were ready to deal with the challenge.

“Which is driving up and down the roadsides in Afghanistan looking for roadside bombs to allow other maneuver forces to get where they need to go,” said Lt. Col. Brad Morgan, commander of the unit.

Their deployment in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel will last nine months. At a ceremony, family members said goodbye to the 148 soldiers who are part of the 42nd Clearance Company, according to WDRB.

Ibrahima Jangana, a member of the 42nd Clearance Company, said on the occasion: “I’m excited and just ready to go (to Afghanistan), excited for the whole company.”
