KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Procurement Commission (NPC) has introduced electronic-procurement system to speed up affairs and has asked all companies to become part of the system over the next three months, an official said on Monday.
Eng. Elham Umar Hotaki, general director of the NPC, said if a company failed to register itself in the system in the coming three months, such companies could not take part in government bidding process.
Elham was addressing a meeting “Supporting Private Sector in Procurement Process” here. He said private companies could enter the system with support of NPC as there would be digital categorization for private companies.
At today’s meeting, he said, over 200 private sector companies would provide their views regarding the use of the digital system.
Syed Ajmal Shahna, acting head of monitoring and development of the project, said the new system would help address some issues which existed earlier.
He added out of the total 368 contracts, 275 contracts had serious problems in their implementation due to which some government programs could not implemented.
He cited vorruption, lack of transparency, delay in transfer of information, insecurity, lack of professional human resources as main challenges in implementation of the halted projects.
