KABUL (Pajhwok): ‘Racing into an inclusive future’, Saudi Arabia on Saturday hosted the kingdom’s first-ever Formula E Race as part of Vision 2030.
Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal Al Saud, vice-chair of the Saudi Arabia General Sports Authority, in an impressive inaugural said “Saudi Arabia is proud to bring and host a mega international event in the kingdom.”
He termed the event ‘a gateway’ for international tourists to visit the kingdom. The Prince also credited Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman for all support in organizing the event.
Eleven teams with 22 drivers will race Saturday (December 15), making Saudi Arabia’s memorable weekend. The race will last for 45 minutes on a 2.5km track in Diriyah town.
Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al Faisal Al Saud, president of Saudi Arabian Motorsports Federation, on the occasion said “We are very happy to host this international event. We want to tell the world not only who we are, but also that to where we are going”.
Prince Khalid remained rejoicing while sharing the details of the event and its impact on cultural and traditional values.
Prince Khalid said ‘Diriyah’ remained a symbolic traditional place and it has been specially prepared for this mega event.
An impressive inaugural ceremony in this regard has already held on Friday in the town converging national and international visitors. The welcoming ceremony was enriched with cultural festivity, music and sporting passion.
