KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has said 91 percent of the national development budget has been spent so far this year, when the revenue increased by eight percent compared to the previous year.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said the Cabinet met at the Chahar Chinar Palace on Tuesday and approved increase in salaries of civil servants based on their abilities
Acting minister of finance and deputy head of the customs and revenue, presented the income report for fiscal year 1397, the statement said.
The MoF collected 18.303 billion afghanis in revenues this year, showing seven percent increase based on International Monetary Fund (IMF) findings, it said.
The MoF also presented challenges the revenue department faced and proposed suggestions to address them.
The budget spending was so far 124.355 billion afghanis or 91 percent consumption that represented a 24 percent increase over last year’s spending.
According to the MoF, about 19 government institutions have spent more than 90 percent of their development budget and the ministries of public works, rural rehabilitation and development, public health and Breshina Shirkat have left behind other departments in spending development budget.
The Cabinet also discussed and approved the salary management policy of civil servants and asked the MoF to correct the policy in consultation with members of the Cabinet and work out a plan for action.
